Helio-bugs, Red-Heads, Jack Pure Folly, Effie, & Gardens of Miranda
June 13, 2012
Busy with vicissitudes of life and minimal time to get into the backlog queue of SMW News. By the time I get to them, they are already old stories . Here is a stop motion news item I’m not going to let dust gather on. I posted in past about Tony McVey’s ‘Gardens of Miranda’ stop motion sci-fi fantasy episodic series (see links below). This is practically a solo effort by Tony in doing the concept & design, miniatures building, armature construction, puppet fabrication, hands-on animation, etc. Fortunately, Tony got some good friends to contribute their expertise & skills with the post production. Below is completed Episode 1 of Gardens of Miranda ….
Obviously, these independent projects in general, would go at faster production pace but funding & budgeting is always an issue. We usually have other jobs that pays the rent & bills, therefore limiting our time to devote to our creative works. There are many interesting animated projects out there, and I am not always able to discover them even with my resources. With the conjested internet information-communication medium, to get noticed, one has to do aggressive promotion through variety of social network marketing platforms and hopefully, niche audiences will take notice!

It’s especially interesting how the light bouncing off the characters makes them part of the scenery even with the composited nature of the shots. Very imaginative too, the creatures are rather original.
I’ve enjoyed watching the development of this project. So glad to see a full episode!
I had no idea this was going to be a series, HOW EXCITING!
