STOP MOTION WORKS / Lionel Ivan Orozco

* Specialty knowledge of Stop Motion puppet fabrication. From armature design to finished puppet. I can do sculpting but on a projects, sometimes my schedule is limited but I know of associates who can replicate your 2-D drawn character designs into 3 dimensional sculpts for stop motion puppets, or, they can do the complete character design concepts for you. For human-type stop motion characters, also, contacts available, with seamstressing specialty doing miniature clothing. I can also provide just the unfinished foam puppets (out of the mold) so your studio or crew can finish and paint them. Also if you have in your possesion, a Collector's Armature; restoration & repair services available.

* Familiar with the different Moldmaking processes using Silicone, Polyurethanes and the hard Gypsums.

* Stop Motion Armatures as Fine Art Pieces or more specifically,"Industrial Tech Sculptural Kinetic Art " (or whatever "name" you want to call it ). If you are an Art Colleclor and would desire a one of a kind unique art piece, I have alCLICK for larger detail armature picsl the necessary artistic, craft and technical skills. You can commission whatever you would like. It can be fantasy characters or real life animal subjects.....fishes, birds, insects, etc. I would not be covered with any skin but the creation would be a highly finished precision jointed skeletal armatured version and your piece would immediately be recognizable as a mechanical representation of your chosen subject. I have access to specialty vendors that do metal plating processing ..... bright chrome, nickel plating, aluminum anodizing, black finished platings, etc. This would be an Art Piece that most art collectors would not have in their collection. It would be kinetic in nature because unlike rigCLICK for larger detail armature picsid sculptural pieces, you can change the pose & positions anytime. Your individually created piece would be mounted on a finely finished stained-varnished wooden base. The potential of subjects are unlimited. Thumbnail photo links here merely an example of what can be done, but for collectors the finish would be more finessed and other possible anatomical details added. I designed and created these for actual animation projects. Again, your commissioned work would be electro-plated to a high luster or matte plated or combination of plating finishes. A customized one of a kind creation .... a conversation piece indeed that will last a lifetime.

Addendum: It has become necessary to make it more clear, that I do custom stop motion animation armature designing & fabricating. I receive inquires from beginners or students and they do not realize the costs of commissioned work. Some think that I offer Stop Motion armatures at Walmart prices , or they greatly under-estimate or under-value these "Articulated Metal Wonderments" .

If budget (money) is an issue, then you should perhaps, attempt to make your own armatures. It does not have to be slickly jointed armatures and there are alternatives. I always say, "walk before you run". A custom armature will not make you a better animator. There is information and links at
Stop Motion Works and on the internet for home-brewing your own armatures. You just need to get your lazy mouse clicking finger working, and do some Googling or Yahooing. If you do not have the self-motivation, then maybe Stop Motion is not for 'you'? I strongly recommend these books Link 1 & Link 2 as a foundation of Stop Motion knowledge. As an alternative, since you seem to have the money to pay for your cell phones, iPods, computers, high speed internet, video games, music CDs, etc.; here are a few suppliers that offer lower cost options; stop motion armature systems/kits .....

I do not know the quality of their products. It is your responsibility to investigate them first before you send them any money. Do test emails to check their customer service, ask them questions and also to see if they respond in a timely manner or if they are slow. Let them know that Stop Motion Works referred you.

Addendum 2: I still welcome inquires , but please realize, that my schedule may be busy or it may not accomodate your's, however, you can ask. If you do have an interest for commissioned custom stop motion armatures, feel free to inquire for approximate commision fee (no obligation for estimates); but I need details such as timeline/schedule, drawings, photos, etc.. If I am not available, I do have contacts or other resources for referral, that also offer "custom" armatures and/or fabrication of entire puppets.
