New Stop Motion Ad: The Way of the Brisk
June 13, 2010
A just release new campaign for Brisk Iced Tea but this time it looks like for online marketing. You may have remembered when th
e original Brisk ad series were done for broadcast television some years ago. The old Brisk ads used Stop Motion puppet caricatures based on somewhat well known, mostly USA celebrities. This new ad, the Stop Mo puppet is of ‘Chuck Liddell’, a sports figure, who I had no knowledge of until I checked his bio. Apparently, he is a world class mixed marital artist champion. So, is this targeted to a specific demographic audience, the testosterone saturated, garage car mechanic, Joe Six-Pack dude??
The internal jointed puppet armature skeleton was constructed by the UK studio, John Wright Modelmaking. David Bell sculpted the Lidell puppet character in clay (sculpture subsequently molded for later casting in rubber) and did the finishing & painting details, then both he and Tatia Rosenthal shared the hands-on animation tasks. Ron S. Cole, an artist who also does puppet model fabrication and a stop motion animator, was tapped to specifically do the internal facial mechanics and also the external silicone skin casting of the puppet. John Wright Modelmaking – David Bell – Tatia Rosenthal - Ron S. Cole - Messageboard Brisk ad topic & here too. Hey …. SMW News already did a spotlight of the older Brisk Iced tea ads just this last month in May at the old SMW News. I do not like to repeat myself but I will be generous this time
, and another freebie plug Revisit of past Brisk Ads
Here is the Brisk Iced Tea Youtube channel for the debut of ad with 4 mini-shorts and the one below, is the feature showcase. At the channel you have option to view it in HD resolution, but, I am always ‘Sensitive’
to those who might not have mega-schmega high speed broadband internet connection, and therefore, I am posting an ‘Econo’ bandwidth saving version here so you can quickly check it out.

Hey, you’re really cookin’ at SMW News – a new story every couple of days!
Got blocked again… Who’da thought StopmoNick would set spam filters into a tizzy?
Maybe if I call myself Dr Spam’s Nigerian Puppet Enlargers I’ll get through…
Anyway, what i said was: I’m amazed at the flurry of activity coming out of SMW News, a new story every couple of days!
@Nick …. your comment recovered. Don’t take the occasional comment blocking, personally. It’s not lost but here in moderation status. Even when I test reply as a ‘visitor’, I sometimes get blocked. Temporary glitch. Your 2nd posts seem to go through. For now, if a long comment, maybe copy your post before you submit. Thanks for positive feedback.
Hey Lionel, Thanks for the write up! I should clarify though, that John Wright Modelmaking built the wonderful armature for us, not Mackinnon and Saunders.
Congrats to David and Tatia! The AD looks amazing!
Well done to Ron on the internal gubbins of the head!
It’s a very funny piece!
@David B. …. corrected to John Wright Modelmaking. I got M&S from Ron’s post at messageboard but obviously an unintentional error.
Thanks for posting this Lio. Love the puppet and the “Behind the scenes” approach. Good stuff.
