Another ‘Chiodo’ Stop Motion T-Rex 1994

February 5, 2018

Another & different ‘Chiodo’ T-Rex stop motion puppet done later around 1993 for the Iwerks 360 degree experience called ‘Dinosaur Adventure’ then this same T-Rex used briefly in the opening credits, of ‘Naked Gun 33 1/3′ (1993) Kent Burton was the lead animator and animation assisted by Joel Fletcher, Kim Blanchette, & Don Waller, contributed to the project. This is unique that Stop Motion was used for an ambitious 360 degree format presentation. Remember, this was back in 1993 before the CGI onslaught. I am assuming back in 1993 that Stop Motion was the only technique that could portray dinosaur creatures in a realistic manner (before CGI).

LIO note – This is very low resolution & video display is small, but there does not exist any other public available copy. Fortunately, Kent at least has a copy of it. You can imagine how cool, if this was in high resolution on a large screen surrounding you.

LIO note: This Chiodo T-Rex stop motion puppet might be resurrected in new rubber skin and used in Peter Montgomery’s indie feature DARK EARTH. Chiodo Bros Studio still have the original molds & armature,
